We stayed in a regular room for two nights, the room was huge and the bed was very comfortable, beautiful decor it looks just like the hotel photos. We had a flat screen Tv on the wall & free internet ...
access. Bathrooms are nicely done & large. We had two big windows over looking the spa which made our room so bright.
The staff are polite, courteous and attentive, We stayed on Valentine's weekend and were greeted with a gorgeous box of chocolates in our room. The leisure center is free for guests and is wonderful, big & bright, there was a great ambiance about the place, we never made it to the spa but we found the pool & jacuzzi so relaxing we felt like we had.
The restaurant is in the old part of the hotel which used to be a church the high ceilings & glass windows are delightful, the food was excellent, service was quick and like everywhere else in the hotel he staff were friendly & very attentive.
There is not a lot in Athy town itself but we found everything we wanted & needed in the hotel & did not want to leave. We got a great deal on the Carlton website & will definitely be booking with them again. ---

Good Value, Relaxing Stay |
|
We stayed in the Thomas Green Room, which appeared to be somewhere between a suite and a standard room. The room was lovely, warm and comfortable. We had one dinner in the hotel's restaurant, the food ...
was of a good standard and service was very good. Breakfast each morning was excellent, all cooked to order and not laid out in a buffet. Also there was plenty of fresh fruit and cereals. The bar was impressive but it was quite quiet and so not much atmosphere. Spa was simple but very nice, leisure centre was not what I would call 4* but it was fine and clean. Athy itself is not the prettiest town in Ireland, although there are some very nice restaurants in the town. Overall we reallt enjoyed our stay, the hotel is relaxing, quiet and comfortable. ---

A most enjoyable stay, one to be repeated........... |

My recent stay at the Carlton Abbey, was a short one, but very very sweet! My main purpose in going there was to avail of the C Spa, and that was a wonderful worthwhile experience in itself, pure ...
indulgence and one I hope to repeat again. Not only did I enjoy the C Spa, but the Hotel was lovely as well, and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious and breakfast was well varied and the hot choice was freshly cooked so top marks for the restaurant. The room was decorated up to date, very clean and comfortable and the only reason I docked 1 star was because I found the voices of the children and people next door could be heard in our room,(though muffled we couldn't make out what they were saying) though this was not a problem for us as we were awake and up early ourselves. The reason I docked 2 stars from the Bar rating was only because it was very quiet, and we found it a bit cold in it. And lastly the only reason I deducted a star from the Location, is because we had the glass in the bedroom frosted out most of the height of it, because it looked out across at other buildings with little space between the buildings. But I didn't choose Carlton Abbey for the views, and so my overall experience was a pleasant and enjoyable one, and as I said one to be repeated. ---

I brought my family on an overnight trip to the Carlton Athy for my mother's birthday. As soon as I looked at their faces in the foyer, I could tell they were secretly disappointed. My disappointment? ...
Not so secret. Firstly, there was a tailback to check-in as the rooms weren't ready on time. They didn't become available until well after three (although we were still expected to check out at the regular time the next morning - making it hardly worth your while if you're only going for an overnight)The foyer was overrun with screaming kids, who were attending a magic show in the function room. I don't have a problem with hotels being family friendly, but when you're trying to enjoy an adults-only weekend away, a heads-up would have been good. Even the welcome mat at the entrance was grubby. The 'leisure facilities' are a glorified public swimming pool (complete with unkempt changing rooms). Of course, it wasn't all bad - the rooms were generally up to scratch (though the previous occupant's hairs were still all over the tea-making facilities on the dressing table and couldn't find something as basic as a facecloth in the bathroom). There was also a party on in the function room below that night, which thumped through the walls into the wee hours. However, the trip was saved by the lovely three course meal we had the restaurant that night. As a travel writer. This particular Carlton fell far short of expectations. ---

Whilst I am sorry to receive such communication I am also glad when people take the time as it is only through feedback such as yours that we can continue to improve, something we constantly strive to do at Carlton Hotels.
It appears your experience, in almost every area was far removed from our normal standards whether this is is slow check in procedures or indeed of service.
Please note that our check in time is after 3pm and we do have to cater for Families as so much of our business I dependant on catering for a wide range of services. However we do understand that sometimes getting away from it all is an important factor when booking a break away.
I have discussed your points in depth with all the heads of departments concerned as well as maintenance and can assure you that we have revisited, in depth Carlton Group policies and procedures to ensure standards are consistently applied.
As a thank you for taking the time to bring these points to my attention and in order that you and your family can experience the true Carlton Standards I would like to offer you a €30.00 Gift card that can be used not only in the Carlton Abbey Hotel but also in any of the other 9 Carlton Hotels In Ireland.
I would be happy to assist you in experiencing the true Carlton experience.
Kind Regards

feedback on Carlton Abbey |
We had 2 lamps not working in the room and no ashtray, reported it to reception on arrival but wasn't rectified however the hotel itself and room were fine, food was beautiful and all service was faultless.
